On my way south to Africa, and before going on this 1 year work trip, I decided to make my way over to London. Two major reasons for this; I found that London is a far better hub option than my hometown Trondheim, and I really wanted to take farewell with a very special one. Well there, we decided to spend our 1,5 days available sucking in on some Greater London countryside, and went playing and exploring in the Surrey area south west of major London.
Days were spent wisely and foolishly in typical lovely, but moody, English summer weather: with long mornings, great sushi at hyper modernistic ‘sushi-ya’ (I would never guess you could have that much of Japan in Surrey, yet in Europe alone…), coffees with a deeper sense of meaning, and walks and talks in the endless opportunities and wowing greenery that the Surrey area has on offer. You are well advised to pay Surrey a visit when in UK, and base yourself within proximity of one of its little towns, for example Guildford. We even caught a brief glimpse of participants and the hysteria around the Olympics all the way out here, as a couple of training camps where staged here, and a planned Olympics event as well.
But all good things must come to an end, or albeit at least a temporary one, and it was for me time to set course for the continent of Africa. I hereby left the paved known road that I’ve learned to love so much the latest year, and from here on and forth it was all uncertainty and a selection of dirt paths to choose from. I now knew that what I had to do was to take a deep breath and just dive in, and grab the path of uncertainties and mysteries for the coming year – scary, thrilling, exciting.
And as for what goes for my special one you might ask..? She will be waiting. As she always does. And I owe her tons and millions for being this patient and letting me grab yet another chance abroad. But we are solid, we are one, I will make it up, and she knows me – I will never stop travelling.
Thank you, you know who you are.
