A new outlook on sightseeing

After traveling a while, sightseeing seems to almost become a habit, and the new things doesn't always feel so new. To clear my head and surprise my body to take everything in a 100%, I decided to try a different approach on the good old sightseeing. I left my phone at home (and my dear GPS-function), dropped the city map and the guided tour bus, and just left the metro at the stop that had the name that was the closest to resemble something-close-to-city-centre-ish. Since I was in Singapore, and I am familiar to the famous Singapore Sling from Raffles Hotel (yes, the alcoholic drink), I got off at Raffles Square. And..surprised or not; BANG there I was in the centre of everything, downtown Singapore. The early morning rain had turned to sun and the day was too nice to stress away  by running with my nose buried in a city map, so I decided on people watching over a chocolate cake and a frappuccino instead.

Early morning rain. On my way to the metro.

Nothing like a cold frappuccino and a sweet cake in the middle of Raffles Square to start the sightseeing day.
After watching the locals rushing to and from lunch under the hot Singapore sun, I decided that a good way to continue the "sightseeing" was to get a good outlook of the city...soo I looked around and saw a very tall building that i figured could do the job. 1Altitude is the name of Singapore's highest skybar, and this is where I got my outlook.

So here it started; exploring a new city trough drinks! And let me tell you, there is no better way. Fun and relaxation in one deal.

The "TO" in BAR TO BAR is a great way to see the sights

A couple of cocktails and a sunburn later we were on our way to see more

Ok, one more.

Next stop: spicy Arab Street

Blu Jaz (yes, not Blue Jazz) is a fantastic place with soul in every corner

Next stop on our drink experience was the famous Raffles Hotel for an original Singapore Sling!

A fun tradition at Long Bar is to eat good old fashioned peanuts, and trow the shells on the floor..! This really appealed to the child in me, and even though i didn't feel like eating peanuts I ate LOADS just to throw the shells on the floor!

This perfect sightseeing day ended at a cute italian restaurant with the Singapore Skyline as a background and a glass of red wine in my hand.

So, the next time you are sightseeing in a new town, on the distant shores of the World: sightsee´on your terms and take in the new sights not just through your eyes, but your mouth too. Just as the chefs say: the looks is half the taste (that goes both ways...)

See ya!
