Corona festivities

Most would consider Mexico City too far away from Xalapa for a day trip, but we decided it was definitely worth it to experience a day of great music, beer and sun! After an early start with leftover banana cake for breakfast and a 5-hour long bus journey of naps, snacks and a whole lot of excitement, we arrived and headed towards Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez - the race track venue of the fourth annual Corona Capital music festival, which attracted 80.000 music lovers to Mexico's capital city...

The rest of our day could not have been better: warm beer in paper cups in the glorious sunshine, a moment of rest in the shade while observing the diversity of the festival crowd, wacky bands continuously playing in the background, the audience singing along in the sun, Emma feeling extra Welsh as the Stereophonics played their biggest hits, Ragnhild's pure joy at seeing The Breeders nearly ten years after watching Kim Deal perform with The Pixies in Norway, Susana being rendered speechless after getting to experience her favorite band for the first time - the magic that is Sigur Rós,  and feelings of euphoria and exhaustion whilst braving the cold through every minute of Queens of the Stone Age - the last act of the day.

Following another long trip back on the night bus, we arrived in Xalapa at 6am - blissfully happy and sleepy after 24 hours the three of us will no doubt remember for the rest of our lives.
