The last couple of days I've had some appointments and meetings with several different people here in Malaysia. Of course, from beforehand, I were told that "In Malaysia, 12'o'clock doesn't necessarily mean 12'o'clock." Now one would think that only goes for personal appointments, but no - it actually includes some public transport as well! Yesterday, when waiting for the KTM Komuter train, I paid my fare (1 MYR) to the next station - and was told it would leave in about 10 minutes (09:15). When the clock showed 09:17, the scheduled departure time was changed to 09:30. At 09:32 it was again changed to 09:45. At 09:47 when it changed to 10:00 I left, and got a refund :-D.
So now am thinking, how do you decode Malaysian time? If you have any special formulas, suggestions or other things that could contribute to that, please tell! To me it seems like 10 minutes are about the same as 1 hour - in some cases - when it comes to appointments. And often times you should initially add one hour to the appointed time.
The pictures doesn't really have anything or that much to do with this post -- it's just a kind taxi driver that didn't even accept tips and insisted on not keeping the 10 cents of change :-), and a nice sunrise from the office, but they have one thing in common - they are right on time.
