Xalapa is the capital city of Veracruz state, I figured I couldn’t live there without visiting the city that gave the state its name. Whilst I was working, my parents stayed there for a few days on their own. Just for the day I went to join them and we were later joined by my friend Christina who kindly took us around Veracruz and to the neighboring city, Boca del Rio, in her car.
Boca del Rio reminded me a bit of Cancún in the sense that it had lots of shopping malls and impressive hotels and resorts on the beach, plus it was truly stunning! The day flew by with lots of gazing at the ocean, eating delicious fresh seafood, drinking locally grown and produced coffee - the Mexican way, strolling down piers (day and night) whilst taking in the crowds and the fresh ocean smell. I even got a song dedicated to me by local musicians on the pier which went along the lines of “Raggy you have eyes as beautiful as the waves of the ocean, but your hair is a horrible mess” well thanks, I think? A day to remember forever!
