About AidCom

AidCom improves security for travelers by providing information about critical situations and imminent hazards at their destination. Information is collected by monitoring 500 various international, regional and local news sources 24 hours a day, and AidCom processes in excess of 10 000 news bulletins per day.

In addition AidCom also distributes updates on extreme weather, earthquakes and tsunami warnings from various, meteorological and geological departments that are used by governments in countries around the world.

Safety-relevant information is distributed to travelers in the areas concerned by SMS, and in addition AidCom delivers the Internet-based service Travel Monitor. Travel Monitor is an interactive world map with an overview of critical events relevant to safety. Companies currently use this solution to keep track of where in the world their employees are located in relation to current events as they happen.

The idea behind AidCom came to the founder Peder Kvendset after the tsunami disaster in South Asia in 2004, when he saw the need for a safety-related communication service for travelers. AidCom was created June 1st 2006, and the first service was officially launched in February 2008.

AidCom has 15 employees in three offices. The headquarter is located in Trondheim, where 9 employees work. AidCom also has offices in Mexico as well as a subsidiary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
